The gardens and glasshouses of the Hortus botanicus Leiden are open every day from 10:00 to 18:00.

During your visit, you can also take a look in the visitors' centre of the Observatory. It is opened in the weekends from 10:00 to 18:00. Currently, the exhibition 'Drake Equation' is on display there. You can also take a walk-in tour on weekends, more information can be found here.

Additional information:

  • Our opening hours are Monday to Sunday 10:00 to 18:00 (last entry 17:30). 
  • The Hortus Grand Café is open seven days a week, from 10.00-18.00. Reserve a table
  • The shop is open seven days a week, from 10:00 to 18:00. The last entrance is at 17:30. 
  • The toilets in the Winter Garden, in the Observatory and in the Garden House are open between 10:00 and 18:00.

General

  • Dogs are not allowed in the Hortus. Exceptions are made for assistance dogs.
  • Hortus botanicus Leiden also sells Museum Cards. These give free access to the garden and more than 400 other museums in the Netherlands. Ask at the ticket desk: €64.90 for adults, €32.45 for young people up to 18 years of age.
