From 2016 the Hortus is collaborating in the three-year-long Horizon 2020 project ‘BigPicnic’. The exhibitions and programme in the Hortus are all about edible plants and food. For this project culinary journalist Onno Kleyn wrote 8 recipes about spices from the Hortus botanicus Leiden. He wrote the recipes and the Hortus gave details about the spices.
